Ewolucja i filogeneza muchówek, głównie podrzędu Tipulomorpha, oparta na gatunkach współczesnych i kopalnych. Fauna muchówek żywic kopalnych różnego pochodzenia i wieku. Homologia użyłkowania muchówek. Rodzina muchówek zimieni (Trichoceridae): ewolucja, rozprzestrzenienie kopalnych i współczesnych, klucze do rodzajów i gatunków.

Aktualne zadania badawcze
- Fauna muchówek bursztynów europejskich jako podstawa do wnioskowania o klimacie i wieku lasów bursztynu bałtyckiego (udział w grancie NCN No. 2020/37/B/NZ8/03042).
- Rola pomostów lądowych między Europą a Ameryką Północną w eocenie w kształtowaniu się dzisiejszej fauny Diptera na obu kontynentach (grant do NCN w przygotowaniu).
- Muchówki grzybiarki (Mycetophilidae): rodzaje Ectrepesthoneura, Acomopterella, Lusitanoneura w żywicach kopalnych; ewolucja, filogeneza (grant Horizon Digibank, złożony; koordynator: Jostein Kjaerandsen, Uniwersytet Tromsø, Norwegia).
- Nowe gatunki Trichoceridae Palearktyki.
